The IUID Registry is the Department of Defense’s master repository for all IUID data, allowing the government to manage and track end items, legacy items, updates and rebuilds, and other property.

The IUID Registry allows the government to establish a system of record to track and trace all assets, to create an audit trail for all assets, and to analyze, report on, and optimize its assets. It provides full lifecycle visibility of all assets and enhances the quality of information available for logistics support, systems engineering and operational planning.

A single source of Truth

An important point that is worth restating is that the IUID Registry is the “Master Database” for all DoD property — and this is important; because, it gives the Pentagon a single source of truth. All too often, organizations will have multiple places where data is stored; which inevitably, leads to contradictions between the different databases.

Having a single master repository avoids these challenges — but puts a premium on Reporting. It makes it all that much more important that when your organization reports to the IUID Registry those uploads need to be accurate and complete.  You have to get it right!

Check your Contract

In order to meet your full IUID contract compliance requirements with the DoD there are two key clauses that must be followed.

  • DFARS 252.211.7003 which is the IUID Marking requirement
  • DFARS 252.211.7007 which is the Reporting requirement to the IUID Registry

In most cases, both of these DFARS clauses will need to be followed in order to be fully compliant with your contract. Do not make the mistake of just marking the asset with an IUID label and assume that you are finished. Reporting your IUID asset information to the IUID Registry is a critical step in the process!
