2018 marks the 1st annual department-wide Audit in the history of the Defense Department.

Estimates suggest that the DoD is investing approximately $350 Million to perform this audit. Comptroller, Norquist stated that by Spring of 2018, “We will have over 1,200 auditors inspecting the Department of Defense from book to floor and floor to book.” Ensuring that all of the items that are in the Government system of record actually exist and can be produced when asked for.

The US Congress and the FIAR Mandate is holding the Defense Department accountable to achieve and sustain full Audit Readiness of DoD property, plant, equipment, operating materiel and supplies starting FY2018.

If there is one message to take-away from all of this is that Audits in the Defense community are here to stay.  Is your organization positioned to succeed?
