Development Operations Engineer
Working independently under the VP of Technology and in collaboration with engineering staff members, The DevOps Engineer implements, monitors, and optimizes A2B Tracking’s computing infrastructure by performing needs analysis, hardware and services procurement and vendor oversight, software and hardware installation, system tuning, and problem resolution for virtualized and physical infrastructure, the local area network (LAN), and hosted services. The Dev Ops Engineer will bear responsibility to help maintain and manage the A2B Tracking cloud infrastructure hosted at Amazon Web Services. Work closely with the software development team to develop and provide a robust, flexible and scalable platform.
The DevOps Engineer is responsible for configuration, operation and administration of network server hardware, operating systems, switches and firewalls. Under VP direction, the DevOps Engineer recommends and implements new LAN devices and Internet services. Serving as the primary systems administrator, the DevOps Engineer will be the “go-to” person at A2B Tracking for corporate best practices and emerging, innovative technical solutions for A2B Tracking’s growing team. The DevOps Engineer administers and controls all host and guest operating systems and core applications, implementing and monitoring compliance with established security and integrity plans. The DevOps Engineer provides on-going analysis and planning of systems, recommends changes, upgrades, and new projects to facilitate meeting A2B Tracking’s needs.
Responsibilities
- Create, Maintain and Execute standard system administration practices
- Develop and maintain integrated system documentation
- Transition new products and services to production environments
- Research and resolve performance issues in distributed systems
- Monitor computing resource utilization, track trends, and project future needs
- Advance the state of systems per A2B Tracking standards and goals
- Direct the actions and monitor the performance of third-party support vendors
Education/Skills/Experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience in Windows administration
- 3 to 5 years’ experience with Network Management
- Network Operations Center experience, Service Level management
- Experience working in and managing a virtualized computing environment
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field
- Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols such as HTTP, SSL, DNS, FTP etc.
- Strong knowledge Firewalls and Active Directory
- Overall administration and policy management of PKI infrastructure
- Detail oriented with excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Good understanding of patch management for Windows and Linux
- Experience with scripting languages and various editors
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical associates
- Self-directed and a fast learner with a track record of innovative problem solving
- Windows Admin certification a plus
- VMWare certification a plus
